How Important Is A Company’s Reputation?

A company’s reputation should be as important to them as it is to the homeowner.  As consumers, we tend to be price focused. What sale is going on right now? Is anything on special?  Are there any promotions? These are all great questions to ask in search of the best deal. But, what happens when the best price comes from a shady company?

For argument’s sake, let’s say that you’ve received 5 estimates and you chose the one directly in the middle. You are now convinced that you got the best deal for the best product. But have you really?  What if the company that you have chosen for your project has less than ideal or no credentials? And more, what if you find out that the installers are not certified to do the work at all? How comfortable are you now with that price?  Always make sure that the company has solid, verified reviews, is established, and that they care intimately about their company name.

Price is not always everything when choosing a contractor to do the work on your home. It equally as important that the contractor experienced and certified to do the requested work. Ask the contractors providing you quotes for product certifications, this can be a differentiator if two quotes come at similar prices. Though experience can be a good indicator of quality, don’t count all less experienced contractors out because they could have a great skill set.  Ask for previous work examples.

Previous work examples and references can be powerful tools when making a decision. Taking a look at previous work can set expectations early on and can put the mind at ease when choosing the right contractor to work on your home.

It’s important to remember that like any project, issues can arise from time to time. Choosing a contractor based on his/her reputation and character always answer the following questions with a “yes”, “Will the company I hired fix any issue, and make sure that at the end of the day it will be done right?”  When company cares about its reputation, they make sure that every issue is resolved and that the homeowner is satisfied, every time. Be sure to consider a company’s reputation when choosing one to work on your home, you’ll be happy you did.
